Independent magazine described Mammadoff’s performance. Mammadoff has been captivating
audiences around the globe with his virtuosity, depth and individuality. His exceptional talent has
taken him all over the world from Europe to the USA. His breathtaking performances have won
him prizes at international competitions both as a pianist and a composer. His most recent
highlights include an appearance at the legendary Carnegie Hall as the first prize winner of 9th
“Florida Keys” International Music Competition. Mr. Mammadoff has also recently released his debut CD album “Whispers of the Soul” on the KNS Classical label, which includes Brahms Intermezzi op.117 and Chopin Preludes op.28.
Born in Baku, Azerbaijan the future musician began to show curiosity in piano at the age of six.
Noticing his passion, at the age of 7 his mother took him to the Special Music School named
after Bülbül in Baku, where he studied piano under Adelya Rahimova and composition under
Pike Akhundova. Despite early successes with winning local competitions, orchestrating and
performing his own works with chamber orchestra, he was not sure whether he was going to
continue with music. However, Mammadoff decided to make a life-long professional
commitment to music from the age of 16. As a huge fan of jazz he wanted to pursue his career as
a jazz pianist first, but then he decided to leave it as a hobby. His exceptional talent and passion
for music brought him to Manhattan School of Music in New York, where he studied under
Phillip Kawin. After spending 6 years in New York City, his journey continued at University of
Missouri Kansas City under Prof. Alon Goldstein. He also received lessons from famous
musicians like Marios Papadopoulos, Vladimir Feltsman, Behzod Abduraimov, Rena
Shereshevskaya, William Grant Nabore, etc.
At the age of 24, as a part of the “New Names” project Mammadoff appears for the first time
with the symphonic orchestra performing one of the most difficult concertos in piano literature
Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto in d minor in Baku, Azerbaijan under maestro Fuad
Ibrahimov. After this sensational performance he was immediately invited to perform this
concerto at 13th Gabala International Music Festival with maestro Ibrahimov.
His concert journey continued with “World Concerto Tour” project by Stanislav Ioudenitch
celebrating Sergei Rachmaninoff’s 150 th anniversary; David Dubal’s Piano Evenings series in
New York City; “Stanislav and Friends” concert at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts
among many others.
